After the USS Voyager was reported to be missing, an intense inspection of the Intrepid class
wnet under way. The main designer of the Intrepid pleaded with Stafleet to allow them to
resume construction of the Intrepid class vessels. After a year of inspection into the design,
no results had been found, and the Intrepid project was resumed.

The USS Laura was the fifth Intrepid vessel to be constructed, though it did not last long as the
SSTF, of which the Laura was part of, was called to eliminate the threat of an impeding armada
of unidentified hostal ships. The battle raged on, and although the Laura wasn't built for war,
but rather for scouting, it did survive and help with the battle. But surviving was not enough,
as the Laura was too badly damaged to continue, and repairs would cost more than the actual
building of a new ship.

Sensing an impending doom, Starfleet Command issued a new remodelled version of the
Intrepid Class. The USS Laura NCC 26395-B was the first to be made. With more advanced
weaponry and shuttlecraft, the Laura-B was a good war-ship, and was admitted to SSTF under
the command of one Captain John Ackerman, a noble man who had made his way up the
ranks after ten years in Starfleet Academy.
